Diamond Firetails (Stagonopleura guttata)

A pair of Diamond Firetails

Our staff were lucky to spot these beautiful Diamond Firetails (Stagonopleura guttata) whilst conducting a Review of Environmental Factors (REF) in Central NSW.

Diamond Firetails are small, colourful birds found in grassy eucalypt woodlands such as the White Box-Yellow Box-Blakely's Red Gum Woodland pictured. Firetails play a crucial role through seed dispersal, which is vital for maintaining plant diversity in their habitat.

Unfortunately, Diamond Firetails are facing significant threats, including habitat loss and fragmentation, degradation of their food sources, and predation by feral animals. Consequently, the Diamond Firetail is listed as Vulnerable under the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016.

This is why East Coast Ecology are committed to working with our clients to develop and implement sustainable solutions that protect the Diamond Firetail and other important species. From conducting wildlife surveys and habitat assessments to developing conservation strategies and implementing habitat restoration programs, we are dedicated to preserving the natural environment and protecting these important species.

Get in touch with our friendly staff and see how we can help you with your project.
